3D movies and computer games are the latest fashion these days. Hardly anyone has not seen a 3D movie or had any sort of virtual 3D experience. Not too many people know that 3D user interface design is actually an extremely competitive industry, where a lot of research and innovation is happening daily. Professionals in the 3D user interface design field are constantly trying to make 3D user interface design more accessible and simple.

The standard way to create a 3D user interface design, which is used by most movie and game producers, is the optical illusion achieved with the help of glasses. Basically, to produce a 3D user interface design one picture is overlaid with the other, and the 3D glasses filter the image differently for the viewer’s left eye and right eye. In the end, this optical illusion creates the 3D effect.

To anyone who looks at the 3D user interface with a naked eye, the image simply looks blurry. This happens because the images have to overlap to a certain extent but not completely, to create the needed depth, which creates the 3D effect. 3D user interface design is a complex area of interface design, where prototyping software is frequently used to create and test images.

Many competing 3D user interface design companies are working on establishing other techniques to create 3D images without the use of glasses. For instance, new 3D user interface design technology was recently announced to have been developed in South Korea. This technology is said to use a parallax barrier that angles some light from the screen to reach one eye and some – the other, creating the 3D effect.
